January 2015 Knowledge Newsletter by Sharon Cheney

Dear Friends,

Fortunately 2015 has arrived. The world witnessed much turmoil and tragedy in 2014. Events that were in the spotlight were the political unrest in the Ukraine, the Ebola epidemic in Africa, economic deflation in Europe, cries for democracy in China, extreme weather worldwide, increased threats from ISIS and the death of 298 people from the mysterious disappearance Malaysian airlines flight MH370. The good news was the decrease in oil prices.

When a new year begins, people often make resolutions that can bring positive change into their lives. But the beginning of a new year is also a good time to reflect on the past year in order to maximize your learning.

Reflections and Resolutions

In reflecting on 2014, some things to consider are what are you grateful for? Often we tend focus on what we don’t have instead of the many blessings we actually have. Even if 2014 has been a year filled with challenges, we can still be thankful for the many blessings in our lives like our family and friends and being part of a supportive community filled with people who care about us.

How would you rate 2014? On a scale of 1 to 5, with one being the worst year of your life and five being the best year, what number would you give it?  What stood out the most for you in 2014? This could be something positive like starting a new relationship or job, overcoming a challenge like a health concern or financial loss or gaining new insights. If the year was challenging, were you able to meet the challenges that were presented? If so, what skills did that require and how well do you think you did? Perhaps you had to dig deep within yourself and discover resources and abilities you did not think you possessed.

Other things to consider are experiences that stand out in your mind. What did you learn from these experiences? Did your approach to people or your attitudes change at all? What changed most in your life and were those changes voluntary or a result of having no other alternatives?

What did you accomplish in 2014? Make a list of what you accomplished and acknowledge yourself for everyone. Did these accomplishments come easily or did they cause you a lot of stress? Have you noticed if you have adjusted your attitude to things or to people that annoy you, or is everything as it was previously? Remember people can only annoy you if you let them.

Were you able to fulfill the resolutions you set for yourself at the beginning of 2014 such as making new friends, finding that special someone, losing weight or saving money? Do you feel you met your goals for 2014 and if not, why not? What stood in your way? Was it resistance to change or a belief that change was impossible or would never happen to you? How much effort did you put into changing the stresses in your life?

What new opportunities showed up in your life and how did you choose to respond? Did you say yes and go with the flow or did you say no because you wanted to be in control or didn’t want to change? Any time we can say yes to new opportunities that show up in our lives, it is an indication of our ability to overcome our fears and move forward.

What was the scariest or the most joyful thing that happened to you in 2014? How did you respond to that event or experience? If you could change anything that happened in the past year what would you want to change?

Many people make resolutions at the beginning of the year but often they fall by the wayside fairly quickly. In setting intentions for this year, what would you most like to change in your life? This could be an improvement in your relationships, a overcoming a behavior pattern or bad habit or realizing the fulfillment of a long held dream. Perhaps your resolutions for 2015 will include saving more money, getting fit, feeling less stressed or better use of your finances.

When making new resolutions this year, be sure to consider how your experiences and actions of 2014 have affected your intentions for 2015? Perhaps you have had a shift in consciousness, are now more aware of how powerful you are or who you are on the soul level, or have greater intuitive insights into others because of your increased psychic abilities. All of these factors will play a role in how you relate to others and the choices you make.

When setting your intentions be sure to add an intention for world peace on this planet which you can visualize by people round the world hugging each other or shaking hands. Imagine the planet being a place that is free of pollution by seeing clear blue skies, clean water and fresh air everywhere. Include an intention for abundance for all as pictured by fertile fields and everyone having enough to eat. See people being free everywhere and having access to medical attention, free education and work if they desire it, instead of living in war torn bombed areas where daily life is filled with uncertainty.

We are all powerful creators. Each prayer we say and any visualizations we create really does help to create a world filled with peace and abundance that we all desire.
