We all wish to be happy. Everything we do is an attempt to enhance the quality of our lives whether this is creating harmonious relationships, doing enjoyable work, finding financial freedom, maintaining good health, having peace of mind, feeling loved and accepted for who we are and being acknowledged for our deeds.
Happiness, like love, can often be elusive or difficult to define. Many believe happiness is the fulfillment of a dream such as getting a new car, home, a job you want, finding a partner, etc. These accomplishments are all outside of ourselves. True happiness comes from within and is a state of being. Happiness cannot be given to you but must be achieved from within. You may feel happy when you get a new car but this kind of happiness wears off when the newness passes.
We often fail to achieve happiness because we act impulsively, over-plan, have too high expectations, expect things to happen instantly, have unclear or conflicting goals, have a lack of focus, don’t believe we will get what we want or feel we don’t deserve happiness because of how we feel about ourselves. When we fear success and being in the limelight.
Many people are unclear about what they really want or have conflicting goals. It is like wanting to be married and single at the same time. The universe wants to give you what you want but if your goals are in opposition, you get conflict instead of the success. Keeping focused on your goal is important because if you say you want something one day and next week you change your mind and want something different, it is difficult to realize your dreams.
How you feel about yourself is important. A person, who feels empowered knows they can manifest whatever they desire by just asking. But people filled with self-doubt, insecurities and a preference to allow others to make their choices, which may turn out to be not the ones they would have chosen, are less likely to get what they want.
Ways to attain real happiness are feeling empowered, which comes from loving yourself and feeling you deserve to have your desires fulfilled. Staying calm and being patient as things will manifest when the time is right and not necessarily when you request them. Feeling you have abundance already helps because the law of attraction is always at work. The more abundance you feel, the more likely you will attract your desires. Having friends, family and a partner that supports your dreams is always a plus.
Think about why you want to achieve a goal because sometimes that is more important than the goal itself. Ask yourself "Why do I want to achieve this goal?" Look back on your life and remember times when you accomplished what you want. Also recall times when you didn’t and why you did not. How did you feel at those times? Did you blame others for your lack of success or yourself? Understanding your actions and motivations is important to achieving happiness.
When you don’t feel loved or love and accept yourself as you are, you may search for happiness outside yourself. Being content within helps you remain calm and accept that if you did not attain all your goals, you are not failure. Perhaps the universe is trying to send you a message to head in another direction. Are your goals what other people want you to accomplish and you are doing that for them and not you? this can only lead to unhappiness.
February is a month that is often associated with love. Is having love from another true happiness or is loving oneself real happiness? We must determine what is love and happiness is to us rather than what others define it as.
Being healthy allows for fulfillment of your goals so that should be a top priority. Being able to speak your mind instead of worrying about what others will say is very empowering. Pay attention to how you feel when accomplish something.
Think about what is important to you. Is it attention, acknowledgement, acceptance by others important or are you content to do what feels right to you? The latter brings true happiness even if others disapprove of your actions. After all the purpose of your existence is not to please others but yourself.
Financial independence frees you from poverty and a need to depend upon others for your livelihood. If you save and invest regularly throughout your working life, you will eventually reach the point where you will never have to work again.
Peace of mind is essential for every one of these. The greater your peace of mind, the more relaxed and positive you are, the less stress you suffer, the better is your overall health. The more peace of mind you have, the better are your relationships, the more optimistic, friendly and confident you are with everyone in your life. When you feel good about yourself on the inside, you do your work better and take more pride in it. You are a better boss and coworker. And the greater your overall peace of mind, the more likely you are to earn a good living, save regularly for the future and ultimately achieve financial independence.
Life is very much a study of attention. Whatever you dwell upon and think about grows and expands in your life. The more you pay attention to your relationships, the quality and quantity of your work, your finances and your health, the better they will become and the happier you will be.
Here are three things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action. Firstly, take time on a regular basis to think about what would make you really happy in each of the areas of relationships, work, health and financial peace of mind. Secondly, set specific, measurable goals for each of these categories and write them down. Third, resolve to do something every day to increase the quality of some area of your life - and then keep your resolution.
